If you're not buying a Topsy Turvy Tomato planter and planting tomatoes in the ground, it's important to pinch off the lower leaves and plant it about 2/3 deep, leaving only the top of the tomato plant exposed. This will help the plant establish a better and deeper root system, giving you a more productive plant.
